The HPI Research School in ICT4D is an initiative between the department of Computer Science at the University of Cape Town and the Hasso Plattner Institut in Postdam Germany. It was formed in April 2009 to foster research in the ICT4D arena. The Centre serves as a focal point for researchers who wish to create Information and Communication Technologies that address problems in the African Continent and other developing regions. The Centre offers annual fellowships to outstanding African students who want to pursue research in ICT4D.
