Querying by Example

• The user constructs a rough query using a standard modelling package. This query is matched against the database using a perception-oriented ‘metric’.
• We advocate wavelet decomposition because it:
  • Is resolution independent
  • Allows overall reduction in fine detail
  • Has fast search times
• Adapt Jacobs et al. “Fast Multiresolution Image Querying” to the 3D case.
