WELCOME!

Welcome to my research webpage. This page gives an idea of the work I am currently doing in Computer Science as well as bit of information about me. As the title suggests I am working on a project Cloud Computing for Digital Libraries supervised by Associate Professor Hussein Suleman. I am also lucky to have been afforded the opportunity to pursue this degree at this beautiful university, see picture below.

In a nutshell, the project seeks to establish whether a typical digital library architecture can be deployed in a cloud, the scability issues involved as well as the general efficacy of cloud computing in the digital libraries field.

What is Cloud Computing?

WOW! This is what I refer to as an interesting question because so many experts in different areas of research define it differently to describe the kind of services they offer. For instance, Ian Foster defines cloud computing as A large distributed computing paradigm that is driven by economies of scale, in which a pool of abstracted, virtualised, dynamically-scalable, managed computing power, storage, platforms and services are delivered on demand to external customers over the internet.
