Consider that in the early
80's for two years after the launch of the ACM Journal ``Transactions
on Graphics'' there was an attempt to have the ``best'' publications
from the SIGGRAPH Computer Graphics Conference reprinted in the
transactions. This idea was soon dropped as undesirable.
